About the Course

The course is hosted by the International Soybean Program (INTSOY) at the National Soybean Research Lab, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This intensive, five-day course is designed for technical, plant management, marketing, quality control, and research personnel interested in promoting private sector expansion of soybean foods in the international market. Participants will receive training in soybean processing and utilization at the INTSOY facilities and lectures will be held in the National Soybean Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois.

By attending, you will have the opportunity to: network and meet with many soy food companies (see list of speakers) and gain practical information on soy processing (extrusion, texturizing, soy milk, dairy analogs) and hot topics (biodiesel, aquaculture, biotechnology). The course manual will serve as a resource for you and your colleagues, and you will interact with University of Illinois faculty involved with soybean research.

INTSOY

As an international center of excellence in soybean research INTSOY is dedicated to the development of processing and utilization technologies. The INTSOY staff draws on years of international experience and is supported by outstanding faculty and research scientists. It is equipped with state of the art pilot plants, test kitchens and consumer testing labs. In addition, faculty and research scientists from other universities and major global businesses representing a variety of disciplines will be presenting.

Transportation will be provided by the University of Illinois for all Course-related functions, and provided by the hotel for other activities. See the Transportation link for details.

Course dress code: Business casual. Dress in cool, comfortable clothing as the weather will be very warm. Portraits will be taken at the Course Registration on Sunday evening at the Homewood Suites Hotel. Feel free to wear more formal attire for this event if you wish.  

Weather: The Midwest in general is very warm in June. In East Central Illinois, temperatures will rise to an average high of 82° F (27° C) during the day and will drop to an average 60° F (15° C) during the evening. Plan to bring cool, comfortable clothing.
