Professional Background:

Nayeli Vilanova, ASA-IM Latin America and Caribbean Office, as a nutritionist for the organization, Nayeli has been responsible for the development of marketing strategy for the edible soy protein program.  She has implemented and coordinated the human nutrition program since 2003, increasing consumption of edible soybeans and ingredients between 8 to 10% every year with the new strategy.

Nayeli’s management of programs with government and non-government organizations institution the inclusion of edible soy proteins and ingredients in the school lunch programs in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Colombia,  include training schools, governments, industry, general population and kids in the uses of soy and it´s benefits.
Nayeli gives technical assistance to the soy food industry on new market trends.  She has assisted the soyfoods industry in Latin America countries to develop and launch new soy products to final consumers.

Nayeli’s role at WISHH (World Initiative in Soy in Human Health) has been to coordinate the market development program with soyfoods industry in Guatemala since 2008. She assists non-profit organizations and government institutions in the uses of soy proteins and it´s benefits and provides technical assistance to the soy food industry in the development of soy based food for populations with low income.  She also, develops and coordinates seminars for the soy food industry in the uses of soy ingredients including the soycow project in Guatemala.

  • Providing technical assistance to primary soybean processors making them more efficient and profitable and increasing demand for their products and consumption of U.S. soybeans.
  • Assisting primary processors of soybeans to market their soybean meal to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers.
  • Creating demand and increasing consumption of soybean meal by demonstrating to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers the efficiency and benefits of increasing soy inclusion in feed rations.
  • Increasing consumption of soybean oil by educating institutional and food processing buyers on the benefits of using soy oil.
  • Creating demand for value added & identity preserved soybeans by educating importers and processors on the capabilities and commitment of U.S. suppliers to meet their needs.
  • Increasing demand for soy food ingredients by demonstrating to food processors the benefits of soy flour and other value added protein products.
  • Sustaining demand for soy food products by educating influencers world wide on the healthy benefits of consuming soy.
  • Tracking overseas policy and regulatory issues applicable to U.S. soy exports
  • Identifying and addressing trade barriers to ensure the competitiveness of U.S. soy.
